Emphatic rock outfit Doctor Payne pulls listeners to the far reaches of musical emersion. Formed by Brighton based musician and producer Marlon Payne, the project targets the theme of mental peace in a chaotic world. Crafting compelling and dynamic songs, decorated ferociously with compositional experiments, the result is an epic list of tunes with unmistakable character.
Feeding his musical obsession early, Payne took on several projects in his teen years, notably as the guitarist of UK punk band A-M-I. After disbandment in 2016, Payne looked to replace a now missing passion with more complex and enriched songwriting. Taking a multi-instrumental approach, he recorded his first demo with Elastika and Ash producer Marc Waterman. Developing an admiration for the process, Payne started a small project studio, honing the art of production and recording local artists for the coming years.
Needing to pursue his love for live music, Payne reunited ex-bandmates to take the stage. With a louder setting, and the first sparks of an image, the unique rock sound began to form with gigs in Brighton and London. Holding a new set of songs, Payne moved from his studio into more commercial facilities to begin work on an album.
Now, with more complete and powerful tunes brought to life, Doctor Payne brands a sharper image. The drive continues to release them in stages and express a view of the modern world in his mind's eye.
